OMG!! If the vet does not insert the needle far enough into the sub-q tissue, the chip will certainly come right back out! When it is inserted far enough under the dkin, the "track" just closes down as the needle is removed, sealing the chip in place. I do not think it is necessary, but just personally, I do not put anything on top of the area that would rub or even present the possibility of maybe creating an irritation at the chip site....but I think that is really just me and my mind. I would give it 24 hours before I put a harness over the area.....may not be necessary, but rather safe than sorry.
