That's a good point. His peak playtime is right after dinner and while I do try to show him attention, its also my time to try and eat, relax and come down from my day. He usually yells (barks) at me to throw his toys and play, which I do give in, but perhaps its not enough. This is where the walks come into play. I really want to teach him to go for walks with me since I have a wonderful neighborhood, but as soon as we reach the end of my driveway and (big) property, he freezes and refuses to go any further. Someone else on this thread suggested I try to lure him with treats. I may try that later. My mom has two dogs (a standard poodle and maltese) and swears by her nightly walks with them. I think this would certainly help Brody sleep better at night. He is definitely an early riser....more so then I am, and I'm up at 6am everyday! LOL |
