From the sound of it, you are not outside with him when he is out there. You need to be with him at all times to watch him. I never let mine out alone, I am with them at all times, even tho we do have six foot fenced in yard.
Another thing to consider. Is it considered eating if he throws it up each time, the poop. This has happened about 4 times in the last one-two weeks. The first time he got sick on us when he was 4-5 mos old, I was out with him and caught him eating on a mushroom, I got it from as quickly as possible but I believe that is what made him so deathly ill that time. I'll never know for sure but I know it wasn't cat poop that time.
