I have a 25 KW, Natural Gas powered, Electric Generator

But, even with one not so powerful (5-10 KW) one can run a few lights, refrigerator, and Fans on the A/C Unit for heating.

Then of course the really important stuff like, charging your Cell Phone, and operating your Computer so you can Post like this
I've got a solar charger for my cell and tablet. I keep it in a window all the time so if the power ever goes out, it is ready. A Honda generator 1000 watts is less than $1000 and can power tv, phones, computer, incandescent lights, microwave, etc. 1 gallon of gas runs it for about 9-10 hours. Better than the one I had on my boat that took about 1 gallon/hr.
