Some people think "they are dogs...they have puppies all of the time!! Mother nature will take care of it." What they don't understand is that we've selectively bred yorkies down to the small size that they are. They would not appear "naturally" that way....heck, look at the yorkies of 100 years ago. They were much bigger. Same with Bulldogs....those wouldn't naturally exist as they appear today either. They have to get c-sections EVERY time they have puppies!! We are dealing with a smaller than average breed of dog...and whenever you get too far outside of "average," , it seems like the potential for complications is also greater than it is for the average dog as well.
