I give my two the odorless bully sticks. It's the only thing that they seem to like, not cause a mess, and last more than 30 min. I only give it to them when I'm home though to make sure they don't swallow it or anything.

But some dogs don't seem to digest it too well. From what I've seen, the most issues I've seen was diarrhea. I have heard that it can break teeth. Magnus is 15.5 lbs and he chews on it first to make it soft and soggy. Then Zoey (5.5 lbs) "steals" it from Magnus. So far, I haven't had any issue with them.

You can make home made chew with sweet potato. There are recepies if you search for them.
