An Original Christmas Poem 'Twas the night before Christmas, while sitting at home
I was drinking some eggnog and writing this poem
The stockings were washed, but they didn't get hung
I was too busy untangling the lights that I strung
The doggies were nestled, all snug in their beds
So we toasted each other, and took all our meds
With Hubby in his bathrobe, and I in mine too
We had just settled down to watch something new
When out on the lawn, we heard a big bang
We sprang from our beds, as the doorbell rang
Away to the window, we tried to see out
But we couldn't see what it was all about
The moon was full, and there wasn't any snow
So it was easy to spot a pretty red bow
When, what to my wondering eyes did I see
A big beautiful present wrapped up just for me
I ran to the doorstep and right to the gift
It seemed pretty heavy, too heavy to lift
I tore at the wrapping, and opened the box
I was hoping to find something better than rocks
I was almost inside, I just couldn't bear it
Turns out, I received the true Christmas spirit
The spirit, they say, is not something you buy
It's not simply a gift for any girl or guy
It's something that can't be found at a store
It's something that means a whole lot more
I'm so thankful for my gift, because I know I was chosen
And to think, I almost missed it, because I started dozing
So, just when you think your life is not complete
Count your blessings before going to sleep
The real meaning of Christmas is love, happiness, and joy
Not trampling each other to get the best toy
I'll leave you with these thoughts, and a bit of insight
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night! |
