We love pee pads! I tried to crate Ellie when I first got her, but it just did not work out for us. Regardless of the size, she would pee and poop everywhere and would roll all in it and she just hated being in the crate, so we got a playpen and started using puppy pads along with the spray that helps them know where to go, and after a little work she got it. Now all we use is puppy pads. We trained my second one the same way and she has done great as well.
