Honestly, I didn't juice for very long. The amount of fruits and veggies needed and the amount of work with such a small yield of juice wasn't worth it. Plus all the fiber is taken out, and it take forever to clean the machine! Now I use a Vitamix. You drink all the fiber and way easier to clean. It's totally worth the money. We went through one blender a month breaking them all before we splurged and got the VM.

The juicer we bought was the Breville (the middle one) and it was a PITA to clean.And if you're lazy and don't clean it till later, it's even worse!

As for what I use, pretty much whatever is in season. Those are what's gonna taste the best and the best price. If you come along something with a great price, buy a lot and freeze them. We have enough strawberries to last us thru the winter!
