Straight stitch set to the longest stich your machine had and loosen your tension the lowest setting. Zip zag will not work !

And don't forget to switch them back before you start to sew again...

You may want to try to loosen your tension a bit and always, always try it on scrap material first ..


Plus, Let the machine do the work for you, you don't have to push the fabric. You pretty much just have to guide the material and keep it lined up with the foot in order to get a straight stitch with the correct amount of seam allowance the entire width of the item.
