Thank you for the replies.

I have put the harness over the sweater--it looks kind of silly, but it is better than nothing. Unfortunately he still is freezing! He potties outside and sometimes he is so cold that he is too busy shivering and he can't potty. Not a good problem to have!

My sewing skills are pretty basic--but I definitely could take a coat to a tailor. I never even thought about that. I'll feel pretty silly doing it, but since I can't fix the button-hole, I guess I don't have a choice! Thanks for the idea!
