I always had more boy dogs growing up w/o even choosing it was just the one who's personality stuck best.
But I feel like most people chose girls because of the assumption that a male dog is more difficult to train, to potty train, marking, aggressiveness, more territorial, etc. But I feel for the most part all of those varies by the dog and how the owner trains/treats/raises the dog and females can do those same thing. And after neuter/spaying very most of this stuff isn't even a problem.
