This is going to sound so stupid, but it's the honest reason why I chose a male dog:
I volunteered for the spcaLA for 2-3 years before heading off to a university. In that time I noticed a pattern, all the female small dogs were adopted first and all the sweet boys were left behind. I got to see the boys week after week while the girls just didn't last at the shelter. All the adoptable boys were so cute, mellow, playful, and I couldn't understand why nobody wanted them. That's when I decided that I wanted a boy. I wanted to give a boy a chance at having a loving home too.
I also see a lot more requests for female puppies on YT, which continued the pattern I saw at the shelter. That just meant more boys for me to choose from!
Now that I have my Kaji boy at home, I'm as smitten with him as he is with me. He loves to cuddle, and wants to be with me always. In fact, he's curled up on my chest as I type this. If I ever get a second dog, you better believe it will be another boy. I'm sure no 2 dogs are identical, and their personalities will play a big role as to whether they're cuddle bugs or not.
