You could soften his kibble by adding a little of the broth from when you boil chicken, and also put some finely diced chicken in the food. Some people also get them interested in their food by sprinkling a little parmesan cheese on top (the smell makes it more appetizing to them).

How old is he now? It is important to for them to eat every couple hours if he is young and small, to avoid hypoglycemia.
