My wife bought a coat many years ago at a craft fair, it was for our 3.4lb Yorkie, Megan. When she got home with it and I put it on Megan, we realized there was no slot for the d-ring, so I made my own. I just put the coat on her and felt for the d-ring, then cut a slit, just big enough for it to go through. We still have that coat, Gina is using it now. If you find the coat that you really like, just cut the slot bigger or cut a slot, I'm sure that any tailor shop could do it.
