You can also search other thread here on YT for some great information to prepare you for what to expect. Most importantly start your gal on puppy food right now to increase her mild production. I feed my gals a mix of dry puppy food and can puppy food three times a day un til whelping and than four times a day after. Use the same brand of food she is on now.
Meanwhile here is a great site that can be very helpful in the care of mamma and pups. Debbie Jenson Dog Breeding and Canine Reproduction by Debbie Jensen. Dog Breeding and Whelping guide for dog breeders.
Good Luck to you and mamma for a safe whelping !! |
I actually have her whelping box set up which I'm so proud of lol because I was a little worried that she might have an early birth. Anyways I have her box set up and I put some carpet on the floor because the floor is wood and I didn't want the puppies getting cold when they got older. Also she is on puppy food and on vitamins for the simple fact that if she was pregnant we wanted to make sure she was ready. I also found out that the puppy food is rich in vitamins and nutrients which I kind of figured she needed. I just can't wait for the birth haha. I'm so excited!
