We use to have bonfires in the backyard. At first Charlie was afraid of them and wouldn't come near them. Eventually, he got use to them because we had them often and they didn't bother him anymore. But I don't think the sound of the smoke alarm is something he'll get use to. Think about it, they have those dog whistles that we can't or can barely even hear. Imagine what a beeping smoke alarm must sound like to them.
