Oatmeal is great energy food. I always take it when I'm doing backpacking trips in the mountains since it packs 100+ calories per ounce dry. Cook it in milk with some cinnamon added and it tastes great too. I don't know if oatmeal diet means eating oatmeal for all your meals (that would be lunacy), but it's a great start to the day next to a couple of eggs fried in olive oil.
