I would be concerned about treating pain until I was certain of the cause. The only NSAIDS I know that are approved for small dogs are rx only. If you feel your dog is in enough pain that he needs medication, then that should be considered a medical emergency and you should see the emergency vet. I understand that is very expensive, especially on a holiday, but this is your furbaby and unlike a child, they can't say where they hurt, so you have to be even more proactive with going to the vet because of that.
