I just wanted to let you know that my little one was diagnosed with liver shunts. She was put on lactulose, metrodinzole and Prescription Hill Hepatic LD diet. She is doing fine. I tried the royal canine but that didn't agree with her tummy so now she is back on LD.
Anyway she was diagnose about a year ago. She is an older pup. She was 12 yrs old when she was diagnosed. Surgery is not an option for her. Even though she is doing fine, every now and then she will have an "episode". Before she was diagnose, she had these "episodes" almost every two weeks. Now she has had maybe 3 in the last year since she was put on medication and her diet was changed.
With liver shunts, you should at least see if it is operable. If not, with the proper medication and diet, your little one can live a full life. |
