If you want to take a more "natural" approach I've used apple cider vinegar for fleas/ticks on both my dogs for the last 4 months and haven't had any issues. I previously gave triflexis until my bulldog had a bad reaction. I was not going to take that chance with my 2# yorkie. So far 4 months with no fleas/ticks.
