Gizmo has this problem sometimes if he is not properly introduced to someone or if he gets overwhelmed with too many people coming over.
What we usually do is put up a baby gate between gizmo and whomever is coming over and then give them treats. We have the person give a treat, then require Gizmo to do a trick ; sit, down, dance or shake. This puts the person in a position of dominance by making the dog do the action to earn the treat. After that he usually does not get aggressive.
With Gizmo at least we only have to do this the first time a person comes over, the next time he is fine.
