My pup had a different surgery -- tplo w/patellar stabilization. When I picked him up the day after the surgery, I asked how long it would be before he would be bearing weight on the leg. The vet said that small dogs -- compared to large to large dogs-- have a much easier time getting around on three legs so they don't tend to use the leg that had surgery as readily. Rehab certainty can't hurt.
