Then there could be an underlying medical problem, like hypothyroidism (low thyroid), one of the symptoms is poor hair growth. There's a simple blood test to find out, if his yearly exam is due, maybe it's time for a vet visit. Or it could simply be diet, adding fish oil (omega3) will help improve dry skin & hair. My guys love sardines (unsalted in spring water) from Trader Joes.
