Default Taycie Update

Here is the Update on Taycie.. I took Taycie in last week for her annual visit. I ran an annual Blood work and Urine and she needed a Bordatella vaccine as well. That was that.

The next day I got a call from Taycie's general vet explaining her blood work. Everything looks fine except for one thing. Her Nucleated Red Blood Cells are high. NRBCs are a very immature form of RBCs seen when there is a severe demand for RBCs to be released by the bone marrow. Of course this is not good. She thought it was a lab error and wanted to rerun the lab.

After hearing this, I decided I wanted to get a second opinion. Not only that, but I want her Critical Care Specialist taking over her case. On our first appointment he looked at the labs and said, possibly a lab error but I want to rerun it. So we did.

We reran the results.. The results are real. She does have Nucleated Red Blood Cells and the count now has worsened. So I met with him again to decide our plan of action. He explained to me that you see this when you have issues with the Bone Marrow and Spleen among other things.

Today Taycie got her Bone Marrow aspirated and sent it to Cytology. They also did an Ultrasound on the Spleen as well. I should know results with the the next week or so. He is leaning toward and auto-immune disease and not cancer. I am hoping, praying, for a condition that can be managed and she can lead a quality life.

I also met with the Internal Medicine Specialist who will also be on her case as well.

That is what I know at this point.. Thank you to all for your prayers, we truly need them right now.
