Many times the surgery is to slow down the progression of arthritis that will develop over time. Buster's Orthopedic surgeon said to restrict jumping up ( bad for hind legs) jumping down( bad for front legs) playing on hard surfaces where they run/slide around corners as this puts strain on knees. Keep an eye out but if the symptoms persist I recommend having it checked out and if you do get a diagnosis of a surgical repair go to an Orthopedic Vet to confirm they need the surgery before going ahead. Sending prayers and best wishes.
He already has been to a specialist. He has stage II in both back legs. Today was the first day since the initial incident that he showed any signs of anything bothering him with his knees since. Scared me, but it seemed to pass very quickly. I always watch for any signs.
