Default Rectal Stricture

Hi

I got a private message. I tried to answer but don't know if it actually did!

URGENT to Shannon who contacted me:

HiShannon,

lets hope for the 3rd time lucky to reply!

Hang in - first of all!

Danny was taken to a vetinarian specialist, put under aneasthetic and had asonar type of procedure.

The specialist said there was a procedure that you basically insert a balloontype of instrument which stretches the rectum and take a few treatments but itwas vey expensive! Also surgery was not an option as it could go the other wayas he might leak the whole time like incontinence.

She suggested we put him on a canine laxative. We started off with every 2days, if the stoole gets loose you skip a day. Untill we found what worked forhim.

She also said it would be for the rest of his life. BUT...I actually forgotafter about 4 months and realised he could go on his own perfectly as well asgiving the Great Dane a good go at pooping! LOL

Keep him on a strict dry diet - we found Eukanuba small breeds suits himperfectly, but yours could be different, Try different ones, but sure tointroduce them slowly by mixing with previous type of foods first for a couple of days and slowly going into a new brand.

Danny has outgrown this condition completely but still has a sensitive tummy -hence keep on a strict dry food, how tempted you are!! (hE WILL get the oddpiece of white meat chicken, but thats about that!)

I cannot believe they told you to put your baby down!! DONT, first try what wedid, please!

I hope this give you some hope - Danny did not make a single poop in about 5days plus! So yours, even with straining, should be ok if he poops once a day and to "regulate"with a laxative!

Please let me know how it goes!!

you can mail me direct on iza.loubser@gmail.com

All the Best!!
