I thought they were at church but when I talked to him he told me they were still at home and saw it coming. He broke his ankle a month ago and had to have pins and a plate put in so he still can't put weight on it. His wife drug him down the basement stairs and ran up to put the dog in the bathroom because the dog can't go down stairs and she was too heavy for his wife to carry. They heard the train sound and heard all the glass breaking. He said it lasted about a minute and when they went up the stairs there wasn't anything around them. They found the dog under sheetrock by the toilet unharmed.
Everyone sees the damage in Washington, IL but this tornado stayed on the ground from Washington to Metamora to Roanoke to Benson to Minonk...about 80 miles of utter destruction. He said his wallet was on an end table in the living room - his drivers license and 2 credit cards were left on the floor and his wallet was gone. His wife had a pill case on the kitchen table and it was still there but the walls to the kitchen were gone.
They at least were able to salvage their clothing and shoes but not much else. Both cars are still in the garage under debris.
