Half a cup should be plenty. My 6.5 lb puppy Cookie (7.5 months old) eats roughly 1/2 a cup of Royal Canin daily. I think she started off eating a little more than a third of a cup when I got her at 14 weeks, when she was roughly 3.5 pounds. Make sure to get Nutrical for your boy in case he doesn't eat much in the morning. It really stimulates their appetites to get them eating again. And it's pretty crucial to have to give them if you suspect the onset of hypoglycemia at all, which is something to watch out for when they're young and small.
