My guess is a breeder who does not guarantee knees, and or hips for at least 1 year either might have a problem in their lines, or not confident in their lines.
I feel that to only guarantee life threatening illnesses is not fair to an unsuspecting new owner that paid for a healthy, non-crippled puppy.
I give 1 year on knees and hips, and 5 years on life threatening. Although hips and knees can be a problem after a year, it usually is from jumping off furniture, up and down stairs, or injuries that a breeder has no control of.
I also have a problem with the 48-72 hour rule to have your puppy vet checked. Mine have their last Vet check a day or two from going to their new home. They are healthy or they wouldn't be going to a new home anyway. My Vet knows their history, their parents, and their vet check results. They are guaranteed.. period.
