So sorry your dog had lost his sniffing ability, must be hard for him as sniffing usually seems to be their main joy! I would think that hot dogs are full of fat, salt, and uncertain ingredients. We don't even know if they smell good to dogs?
It is not smelly but I use Pure Bites pure dehydrated chicken breast pieces. You can break off small bits and the food lasts a long time, especially if kept in the fridge.
