Does anyone use little pieces of hot dogs as treats??

I used to play search games, except instead of finding bombs, people, drugs or wild game, I would hide little dog treats. I figure, if they like that, they'd probably enjoy puzzle toys for x-mas.

I was thinking about using real meat, specifically hot dogs, since my older dogs sniffer is broken. He's always congested bc of allergies, and he doesn't smell as well as he should.

So, does anyone use hot dogs as treats?? Why or Why not?? Is there one type of hot dog that is better than another???

Also...What do you think the smelliest, yummiest treats would be...I am thinking some kind of meat, but I am not sure what kind would be the best....but I want something that's super high value and stinky!!
