Absolutely!!! You need to have Nutra-Cal or Nutra-Stat...same stuff essentially....at your home, in your glove box, and I keep a tube at anyones house that I routinely visit with my pup in tow. I also keep a tube in my purse....I am nEVER without the stuff......That was when I had a baby that had bloodsugar issues....thank goodness, that is behind me and I have not had that worry. But I still keep a tube in my purse and one in my car. I always use the Honey Nut Cheerios for treats for these little crazy babies that blow and go like crazy people.....you are fueling up their "sugar tanks" as they are depleating them with all the high energy output!
More importantly, I am concerned about your vet not knowing and not recommending NutraCal for low bloodsugars....you do not ever want to try to give a whole syringe of sugar water to a half unconscious pup....chocking and aspiration pneumonia are a couple of things that come to my mind immediately, do that. You may want to find a vet that is used to working with small dogs, toy dogs, especially Yorkies.
