For my bed, I have the plastic step you can get from the drug store, works well for us.

I really like this one! I have to see if I can talk my husband in to letting me order it.

I like the foam ramp idea, too. I'm wondering if I could go to an upholstery store and buy a piece to cut down and then make a cover.
