I tried steps and ZoE wouldn't use them, she'd just jump instead.

Then I found a small vanity bench (from a child's vanity) at a resale shop, and it works perfectly next to my bed. I have a padded footstool next to the sofa, and that works well too, as the sofa is much lower than my bed.
