OMG I saw the saddest thing at the dog park today :-( So I was at the park today with Gizmo today, my first time since I fell and was injured. All was going great, Gizmo was making a gazillion doggy pals as well as people pals and playing, which was awesome because I met another yorkie that he is now going to have play dates with :-) her name is coco and she is also a rescue that is 2 years old that is 5 1/2 lbs and Gizmo is in love lol. That was the best part of the day and I was so excited !!!!! But anyways, as Gizmo and coco were romping around having a great time playing, they became like instant best friends. We were watching them play and all of a sudden, this woman walks up with a very tiny dog on a leash. It took me a few moments to realize it was a yorkie, because it was all one color, very very blonde almost white, and the poor thing was so so tiny.
I approached the woman and asked her some questions, like how old he was, how much did he weigh and such. He only weighed just under 2 lbs and was 4 years old, she said yes he's very small because he's a micro, the most sought out of the breed, like she was so proud of it :-( she also offered up the fact that she paid $3500 for him because he was so "RARE", I was so sick to my stomach due to rescuing Gizmo from becoming the same thing. I realized that's what would have happened to him, if he had not come close to death, and the byb freaking out trying to get money out of Gizmo before he died :-(
The poor little yorkie had no color, just the very very light blonde, like all the color had been lost from genetics of The breeder doing this over and over. It's bones looked so fragile like it would literally break if you even touched the poor dog. She also informed me he has liver shunt, LP, and occasional seizures. I said that must be terrible, and she responded, well it comes with all yorkies :-( The poor dog had no personality at all, in fact just looked very sad and ignored anything even going on around him, like he could care less that he was at a park where all these other dogs were so happy, playing and just enjoying the nice sunny beautiful day we were having. It was like his personality was just to be an accessory and he knew it :-(
I can say this though, I am so so thankful I was able to rescue Gizmo from a similar fate, and it put it right in front of my eyes, what happens to these pups, when someone succeeds in creating this "MICRO" yorkie. I was just so thankful I have him and he will always be safe and loved :-) it really made me appreciate how much I have fallen in love with Gizmo and that he's in my life and no one will ever be able to hurt him again xoxo
