Megan had bad LP in both hind legs, no supplements were ever suggested, and I tried glucosamine and chondroitin, for several months, trying to stop the continuous damage to my joints, it never did anything. Glad your baby is fine, and doesn't need any surgery anytime soon. Once you start down that road, it's a long hard road to travel. Good luck, and many years before any drastic measures are needed, hopefully none.
