Omega3, glucosamine and MSM have all been proven to be helpful in supporting connective tissue health. Unfortunately many vet's don't study nutrition. They count on the pet food companies doing that for them.

You dog is young now and fairly healthy. As they age is when the problem comes in. When the connective tissue gets weak it cannot support the deformed joint as well. Supplements help slow down the degenerative process.
