Aww little Ricky. Maybe try using treats and praise when he uses the stairs? And if you're quick enough to catch him on the arms of couch ready to jump just put him on the stairs, and give him positive reinforcement?
Also try to get your 8.5lb yorkie baby to follow suit. I'm sure there risk isn't probably there with him, but I bet Ricky is taking pointers from him.
