I do think the potty training reputation is well-earned, but both yorkies I have had are incredibly loving. They're also both very active. Yorkies are certainly not the breed to get if you want a dog content to relax on the couch all day. I wouldn't call them hyper, but yorkies definitely need playtime and outside time. Still, with some hard work they can be housebroken as well as almost any other dog.
