My vet would give my golden retriever the kennel cough vaccine (up the nose and he hated it) yearly. I occassionally had to kennel him for a family trip and the kennel would not take him if it had been more than 6 months. So occassionally he would get it after only 6 months. The vet said it wasn't necessary and that a year was fine but would go ahead and do the 6 month if needed to satisfy the kennels rules. To be honest, I'm not sure if either of my yorkies has had bordatella yet. Never boarded them so I hadn't really thought about it.
