Just said a say good-bye to one of our old barn cats. Calico Kitty was a feral cat we adopted from Sterile Feral between 14 and 15 years ago. She was one of four cats we adopted at the same time to guard the barn against mice and rats. Although she didn't like humans she loved her some mouse
and faithfully performed her job. It always surprised me that she would hunt because she certainly didn't "need" any extra food
. It is so sad to lose such a faithful, even if unfriendly, worker. May you ever rest in peace, Calico Kitty and have an endless supply of kibble and a mouse or two for variety.
