Of all the pets I have had spayed or neutered I have found them to be very good judges of what feels right and what doesn't. I have never had one be so physically active that they hurt themselves. Then tend to instinctively know what they are capable of doing. I have had a couple of dogs that were obsessed with their stitches and lick the incision until it became inflamed. Fortunately techniques seem to have improved a great deal over the years and that doesn't seem to be much of a problem either anymore.
My advice is don't treat them much different than you always do. They heal very quickly and as long as you are watchful, they will be fine.
