Omg Anal glands

Took one of my dogs last week to the vets as it looked like she had a punture mark kiddey corner from her butt. Her and my male play often I thought he might of gotten to rough. At that time it was oozing some she was licking it a ton. Vet said its an infected anal gland. First time for us ever in my mutiply dog home. Cleaned it, sent us home with some antibiotics, anti imflamatory. Next day, it ruptured. Gaping hole, freaked me out, she seemed better though more like herself. Back to vets, cleaned it out again, keep using medicines, warm compress. Mid week it looks better, closed, no more licking, dog back to normal. Yesterday, checked it again. Swollen, purplish, looks as if its gonna explode any minute. its sensitive to touch but otherwise she is acting ok. Off to the vets again today. Its infected again as is the other side, vet cleaned her out again. Didnt push to hard as she didnt want to rupture it again, new antibiotic more anti inflamtory and warm compress's.
How do I stop this from happening again?? She is 6, never has happened to her or any of my dogs before. advice please
