I've seen dogs that didn't have their eyes cleaned developed sore spots where the goop collected and hardened and stayed there for days. It's got to be uncomfortable to have that stuff riding in the lower end of the line of sight and ask her if she would like to walk around with that stuff in the corners of her eyes. If she wouldn't, she owes no less to her own dogs! Our dogs deserve no less than being well-kempt and avoiding cleaning the eyes is avoiding being a good owner. It's every bit as important as bathing, brushing, toenail clipping and tooth-brushing.
