To train quiet began when they are already calm. Sit next them and say quite, then give them a treat. Then you add stimulus, have someone knock or ring the doorbell, when the bark gently say quiet, the moment the stop barking say yes or use a clicker and give treat. Keep doing this and the pup will learn that he gets treat when he stops barking. Teaching other basic commands also help, such as wait, sit, down, and stay
