I don't know much about this, but we got a girl who was used for breeding in May. She had been kept in a cage and used only to breed. She was 4.5 pounds when taken in. She now weighs nearly 8 pounds and is very over weight. She was a little under weight at first. I do not have advice because we have found it is very difficult to limit her food. When she eats, she acts like it's her last meal. We have an underweight yorkie also. So we had been free feeding. We have stopped this because she eats everything. I would say stick to the recommended amounts on the food label. I have started home cooking for mine and this seems to have helped the skinny yorkie. She loves any kind of food so she'll be fine either way. You are wise to consider this before the weight problem starts. I wish I had considered it.
