I also took the boys out for a walk again today. Instead of putting on the snowsuit, which ricky HATES, I put on layers...a tshirt, a sweater and a jacket. He seemed to like that much better. I also brought the stroller along and I put a few warm blankets in there so we could go on a longer walk. About 1/2 way through our walk, after the boys had went potty enough, I put them both in the stroller and wrapped them up.
Ricky was still a little cold so I am thinking the next thing to try is a winter hat because his head was literally the only thing that was exposed. I am also thinking of getting some hand warmers to put in the bottom of the stroller to keep them warm.
I've also been thinking of turning the electric socks into an electric sweater. I've never had a pair of them...just have heard about them....so I on't know whether it would work or not. Any thoughts on that??
Also...any suggestions on how to get Ricky to poo on the pee pads? He will pee on them(most of the time) but he'd rather poo on my carpeting. I picked up his poop and put it on the pee pads in hope that he would understand that he poos there. So far...no luck though!! |
Just a thought here - are you making sure that this spot is clean? If not, he may be encouraged to go there again if the scent remains.
Bailey does go on his pad in the house, most of the time, if I'm away for the 8 hrs., but less than that he waits and goes outside. I've actually built him an outhouse out of a large box and tarp around it for rain protection. As yet, he hasn't had to use it much, but I can tell this may take a while to be a success, as he wasn't too thrilled going in it when he did

I too put some of his poop on the paper in the box, figuring he would go back... but no, he held out and went in his usual spot in the backyard. We have had an amazing run of no rain, lots of fog though

, so it hasn't been cold enough for him not wanting to go outside. Having said that he does wear his coat for his 6ish am outing. He's not too thrilled wearing it, and looks like an abused puppy when I put it on him. Does anyone else's YT do the same thing? It's almost like he's saying "Really... you want me to wear what?" Too funny. If I don't put it on him he's quite cold, even at this time of year. He doesn't have dense hair like I've seen other YT'ers, so I understand why he gets cold. As he gets cold quickly, he also gets warm quickly. Good for him though, he does drink his amount of water.
