If he's eaten, he's been out and went potty, and now needs a rest please make sure he is in his cage for his own protection. A regular cage is best not a carrier.

He is going to whine simply because he is in a strange home and has been taken away from his litter mates. It helps to have some stuffed animals for him to sleep with. Preferably ones that have the mothers and litter mates scent on them. They will take the place of his litter mates and will help calm him down. Also make sure he has a nice warm blanket for warmth and that the cage is in the same room as the family. Make sure that he has full view of the family but sometimes for nap time it helps if you toss a light weight blanket over the top so that he will calm down and not worry so much about who is doing what.
