Pups with LP are susceptible to ligament tears due to the wear and tear on the ligament because of the patella slipping in and out. While jumping should be avoided, they still can tear a ligament.

The ortho surgeon I use recommends that puppies with LP have repairs done....he is less apt to do it with an older pup because often the pup will end up with a torn CCL and end up having two surgeries when it could have been just one. If repaired in a puppy, then the ligament does not go through all of that stress.

I do highly recommend a board certified surgeon do the repair.

Anesthesia is just not the risk that people think. As long as you are using a vet who is doing up to date protocols, there should be no problem.
